Meet Adonis, the Perigrine Falcon

In Greek mythology, the name Adonis describes a young male of unsurpassed beauty. Therefore, choosing a name for my Peregrine came easy, but not right away. When Adonis arrived via Continental Airlines, he was a mere puff of white natal down, enormous brown eyes, and a piercing shriek that echoed throughout the entire airport. At that point in his life, he was affectionately referred to as "Baby Boy". Adonis pipped his way into the world at the Captive Peregrine Breeding Project at U. C. Santa Cruz in April of 1991. It was soon noticed that this newly hatched falcon was vision impaired so he was transferred to Wild Wings of California when he was about two weeks of age. As you can see, Adonis has matured to become worthy of his name.
